Kathy Henley – President
Kathy Henley is the mother of a 29 year old son with autism. She has been assisting with Autism medical research for more than 10 years. Kathy has volunteered with other Autism nonprofit organizations such as Autistic Children’s Activity Program, Autism Society of Oregon, and Autism Research Institute.
Dr. David Krug – Vice President
David A. Krug, parent of a young man with Asperger’s, has a PHD in special education from the University of Washington. David is a professor emeritus of special education at Portland State University and is currently engaged in evaluation of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Barbara Avila – Secretary
Barbara Avila is a Family Autism Consultant currently serving families in Oregon, Washington and Australia. She has been in the field of autism for 22 years starting as an aide, behavior therapist, group home parent, teacher and autism consultant for ages 0 – 18 years. She has volunteered with the Autism Society of Oregon for 7 years and is now the current president of the board. In 2008, she started the Portland Autism Group for professionals, focused on ensuring best practice and resources for autism in our Portland community. She is also an active board member and secretary of the Autism Research and Resources of Oregon. Read Barbara’s Full Bio here
Dr. Steve Edelson
Dr. Edelson is director of the Salem based Center for the Study of Autism and is a research psychologist associated with the Autism Research Institute.
