5K Pirate Fun Run/Walk: 8:30 am – 10 am (see details below)
Family Pirate Party: 10 am – 3 pm (see details below)
Pirates Come Out At Night Party (adults only): 7 pm (see details below)

Event #1: 5K Pirate Fun Run/Walk
All proceeds will benefit PACE Place Foundation & ARRO.
Two non-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations.

Start & Finish Location:

Beaverton, OR 97006

Registration: 8:30 am
5K Fun Run/Walk: begins at 9 am
Cost: $20, cash or check, paid at registration only. Participants in the Fun Run/Walk gain free admission to the Family Pirate Party (see Event #2 details below)

The course runs through the THPRD Nature Park and finishes at the Project PACE, Inc & ARRO building.

Event #2: Family Pirate Party
All proceeds will benefit PACE Place Foundation & ARRO.
Two non-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations.

10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Admission is $5 per person, $20 maximum per family.
Pay at the entrance of the party.
Food, beverages, and raffle tickets are extra.

Burgerville is generously sponsoring the Pirate Party and will be at the event selling lunch. The Burgerville mobile kitchen will be serving their full menu. The profits from the Burgerville mobile kitchen during the Pirate Party benefit PACE Place Foundation & ARRO, so please come hungry!!

Bring your bathing suit and a towel for water fun. Wear comfy climbing clothes and shoes if you want a ride on the zip line. Check our the carnival games, face painting, and other fun surprises. There will be food and beverages for sale and raffle tickets to purchase for some great raffle baskets.

Event #3: Pirates Come Out At Night (Adults Only Party)
All proceeds will benefit PACE Place Foundation & ARRO.
Two non-profit, 501(c)(3) organizations.

Adults Only.
Start time: 7:00 pm
End time: When the last Pirate walks the plank…
Cost: $25 per person
The cost of your ticket provides you with a buffet barbecue dinner, beverages, and dessert. Raffle tickets and casino games are extra. We will have Black Jack Tables and “Putt for Gold” where one lucky Pirate will putt for a possible $10,000 prize.

We will have a 5k walk and a 5k/10k run through Oaks Park and on the Springwater Trail.

All ages and fitness levels welcome! See you there!

DISTANCES AND COURSE:
5k (3.11 miles) and 10k (6.2 miles)
This scenic out-and-back course will begin and end in Historic Oaks Park on the Willamette River, then wind along the Willamette Greenway before turning around and heading back into Oaks Park. Runners will not need to decide on their distance until reaching the 1.5 mile of the event.

US Post Office Run / Walk Pre-Registration ends Monday, 4/20/08
Online Run / Walk Pre-Registration ends 11:59 pm Thursday, 4/23/08

Kids Fun Run (ages 12 and under)
- Pre-Registration and Day Of Race – $10
Pre-Registered Run / Walk Entries – $20
ORRC Members Pre-Registration – $15
Day of Race/April 25, 2009 – All Entries – $25

One T-shirt included with each Pre-Registration.
T-shirts will not be held without prior arrangement if not picked
up during registration .
T-shirts not guaranteed for Day-of-Race Entries.

RESULTS
Results for both races will be posted on SeansRunfromautism.org and the Autism Parents Network website .
They will also be E-mailed to any participants that leave an E-mail address.

AWARDS:
Ribbons will be awarded 3 places deep in ORRC 5-year age groups.
Awards ceremony will take place at approximately 11:30 a.m.

  Dr. Louisa Silva, a physician researcher working with Teaching Research Institute, Western Oregon University, will share her work and research using Qigong on young children with Autism.
• Linda Lee, RN
  Linda Lee, RN, Executive Director of Help Autism Now Society (HANS) and author of the book “Autism: Living with My Brother Tiger”, will share her son’s journey using educational and integrative strategies that created positive changes.

The six thrusts of the center are:

1. Medicine; research and clinical services
2. Education; research and direct services
3. Interventions and therapies, evaluation and development
4. Vocational training, on site and off site services
5. Social skills training for the individuals with autism of all ages
6. Services; the identification of and coordination with existing agencies, and development of new programs that benefit both the individuals with autism and their families.

The Oregon Autism Research & Services Center will:

1. Be a physical place.
2. Work with autism and autism like disorders such as Asperger Syndrome and Pervasive Developmental Disorders.
3. Work with individuals with autism of all ages and their families.
4. Have multidisciplinary research which includes medical, educational, psychological, social services, and/or vocational training aspects.
5. A scientific think tank for cutting edge research into interventions, therapies, treatments and causes of autism
6. Promote the inclusion of individuals with autism in their families and communities.
7. Help families assist each other by encouraging grassroots and family driven programs.
8. Create ongoing relationships with businesses, schools, and community service agencies to develop skills so that these individuals can be contributing employees and citizens.
9. Verify all projects and programs using scientific research methodologies and documentation.
10. Develop best practices paradigms for all projects undertaken.
11. Develop anchor tenants and partners:
    - house and partner with a medical/dental clinic
    - house an alternative school with model classrooms that will develop and demonstrate best practices
    - partner with local universities to provide training prototypes and practicums for future professionals in field addressing these disorders.
    - house and partner small business to encourage the development of vocational training opportunities.
12. Rent or provide office space and meeting places for autism related organizations (both non-profit and for profit) and agencies; such as Autism Society of Oregon, Project PACE, Center for the Study of Autism, Autistic Children’s Activity Program, Inc., county developmental disabilities program offices, etc.
13. Do co-ventures with off-site businesses to provide vocational training and employment opportunities.
14. Provide a place that fosters and advances the existence and development of multidisciplinary model programs and services.
15. Do what is required for the person with autism to make the maximum recovery from autism; not the minimum required by law or allowed by insurance companies. Help the person with autism lead their lives to the fullest measure possible. Help the families of people with autism lead full lives, not lives overcome by the existence of autism in their family member.
16. Be a place where professionals, families, and individuals with autism can work, interact, recreate, and play together; and feel secure so they may learn and grow.
