ARRO Holiday Assistance Project

It can happen to anyone!

It is tough having a child with autism. If you also have financial difficulties during the holidays it can be truly overwhelming.

Your child with autism  does not understand. And there is no way to explain it to him or her. It’s even worse if there are siblings who are overwhelmingly disappointed too.

This tips your family over the edge.

ARRO Holiday Assistance Project.

All donations are gratefully accepted no matter what the amount is.

ARRO established this fund in 2007 to assist our families during the holidays.

Last year we assisted two families with rent and utilities bills, and gave 43 Multnomah County families $100 Holiday Gift Cards from retailers such as Fred Meyer, Target and New Seasons Market. This year we would like to assist more families.

Families nominated in November by an Oregon autism nonprofit will be considered to receive assistance from this program by December 15th.

Assistance choices will be family driven. The amount of assistance given will depend on the amount of funding raised.

Families who need help should contact an Oregon autism nonprofit organization such as ARRO or the Autism Society of Oregon.

Our families need your help! Please donate today so that we can make their holiday brighter!

Please make your donation today!

You are welcome to use this digital JPG to create
holiday cards and gifts for friends and family.

Subject

Learn How to Get Insurance Reimbursement for Autism Treatments In Oregon

Body

You are invited to a free workshop on Autism Health Insurance – organized by parent volunteers – to learn how to get insurance reimbursement for autism treatments in Oregon.

A recent court ruling has confirmed the responsibility of insurance companies to reimburse ABA and related interventions under Oregon’s Mental Health Parity law.  The judge ruled that:

  • Applied Behavior Analysis can be considered medically necessary treatment for Pervasive Developmental Disorder
  • Applied Behavior Analysis “is not experimental or investigational” – it is a well-established treatment “supported by decades of research”
  • Applied Behavior Analysis is a psychological treatment covered under Oregon’s Mental Health Parity Law –SB1
  • A provider is eligible for reimbursement under Oregon law if the provider is approved by the Department of Human Services; an ABA provider need not be credentialed with the insurance company to be considered an eligible provider

This workshop will

  • Explain the existing law and legal ruling in the McHenry case
  • Show how to determine if your policy is covered by Mental Health Parity (or find a new policy that is)
  • Explain the process an autism provider can follow to become DHS approved (it’s pretty easy!)
  • Describe how to prepare your claim for reimbursement
  • Extend an offer for ongoing assistance in completing the paperwork and processing appeals if necessary

Our focus is helping families, one by one, through the insurance process.

You can find more information about this important legal ruling – including copies of the judge’s legal decisions – at:  http://sites.google.com/site/orautismcoverage/breakingnews!

For more information, contact:  paul@terdal.com

We hope to see you there!
